K-TEE AND TOM KERRIDGE PRESENT ‘BITTERSWEET’ at CNB GALLERY WITH MARK HIX
23rd March – 5th May 2016, CNB gallery, Tramshed, 32 Rivington Street, EC2A 3LX
Just before Tom Kerridge met K-tee at the launch of Beautiful Crime’s Shoreditch gallery last year, he had snapped up one of her stunning ming vase grenades. A year later, Tom Kerridge and K-tee formulated a collaboration where art meets food, with Mark Hix’s CNB gallery located at his Rivington Street restaurant, Tramshed. The solo exhibition by the emerging contemporary sculptor, entitled, ‘bittersweet’ features beautiful contemporary sculptures – made of resin – in the form of chocolate grenades with a variety of different fillings or bites taken out of them.
Fast becoming known as the “artist who makes the grenade sculptures” K-tee has forged a unique and original type of contemporary sculpture that addresses the beauty and delicate contours of dangerous objects, turning them in to something quite different altogether.
K-tee’s resin sculptures for this show beg the viewer to do a double-take on seeing the grenades, which are at first glance, deceptively like your favourite chocolate bar – whether it be filled with honeycomb, turkish delight, caramel or mint bubbles. There’s a favourite flavour for everyone.
There are two versions available: a small free-standing grenade and a much larger wall-mounted half-shell grenade. please contact email@example.com for any sales
